Imaging Advances

Seeing cilia requires powerful microscopes. We are innovating microscopy techniques to bring unprecedented details to cilia imaging.

Sensory Organelle

What does the islet cilium sense, and why does it matter for metabolism? We use knockout models, live-cell imaging, spatial proteomics, and hormone secretion assays to find out. Current projects focus on incretin and nutrient signaling.

How do ciliary GPCRs generate signals that control the entire cell? These questions require targeted manipulations of ciliary receptors and effectors, some of these tools we are developing.

How do primary cilia move and power their motion, and what purpose does it serve? We use live-cell imaging, genetic tools, and computational modeling to study this.
