Exploring Islet Cilia Function

Advancing research on cilia's role in pancreatic islet cell communication and function.

Primary Cilia in Islet Biology

In the Hughes Lab, we investigate primary cilia to understand how compartmentalized signals within these organelles shape whole-cell function and influence human health. We are particularly interested in how ciliary dysfunction contributes to diseases beyond the classical ciliopathies.
